Recent college graduates can take advantage of this paid fellowship, which opens doors for talented young Latinos who are pursuing a career in public policy. You will spend nine months working in Washington, D.C., with significant exposure to leaders in congressional offices, federal agencies, national nonprofit advocacy organizations, government-related institutes, and more—growing both personally and professionally during your fellowship experience.
The Fellows program is a unique opportunity to learn about local government while working full time as a City employee.
Competitively selected applicants will join a cohort of up to 18 Fellows for an 11.5 month full-time work experience as City employees. Fellows will earn an annualized salary of approximately $55,000, plus health, dental, retirement and other benefits.
The Fellowship Program is a year-long training program for young leaders who have completed, at minimum, their undergraduate degrees by the start of the program. Fellows are assigned to specific program areas and develop expertise with the direction of a policy director and the Academy Director. Each Fellowship experience is unique and is shaped by the current policy focus of their program area. Although the curriculum is similar to that of the Associates program, Fellows are given more responsibility and independence to implement projects and programs. The learning environment is based on combining experiential learning opportunities, individual development and team participation.
Each year, through the James C. Gaither Junior Fellows program, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12-14 one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. They are selected from a pool of nominees nominated by several hundred participating universities and colleges. James C. Gaither Junior Fellows work as research assistants to Carnegie’s senior scholars. Please see your school’s nominating official to learn more about the college application process and please see our FAQ for eligibility requirements.
The California Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) builds education policymaking capacity in California for K-12 and higher education. The program creates cohorts of education policy leaders from a range of roles across the state who are well-versed in key issues affecting student success and who have the relationships needed to work together across systems. Each year, California EPFP enrolls a new cohort of about 20 mid-career education professionals, called Fellows, drawn from K-12 and higher education, executive and legislative branches of California government, and education- related non-profit organizations. Fellows learn to approach and analyze issues and challenges from different perspectives.
